Today is the 14th anniversary of Kingston BETA.
.
The bi-monthly Tech Community Meetup that kickstarted the Jamaican Startup Movement in 2007. We had over 100 events, 10,000 attendees, and over 450 entrepreneurs from 10 Caribbean countries plus Diaspora US/UK. It is the first and longest-running type of tech community event in the Caribbean.

It also spawned Caribbean BETA- the first tech entrepreneurship conference in the Caribbean, Digital JAM 2.0, Caribbean Bloggers Week. Meetups+ Pitch events for Tech Entrepreneurs, Trend Forums, 3 Caribbean Tech Conferences, 3 Caribbean Hackathons, a few Mobile App Competitions, and Startup Weekends. We also co-produced and provided Caribbean Tech Entrepreneurship content programming for SXSW, AgriHack Caribbean, and Black Tech Week ( Miami and New York).

Very proud of its role in developing the Caribbean’s Tech Startup Ecosystem and Tech Entrepreneurship culture and the impact it continues to have today. So proud of the community and movement that was started and grown. So proud of us.
.
It is one of the things I’ve done that I am most proud of. Onward and Upward.
